Technology Park- South Burlington
Technology Park is a partially developed commercial subdivision
design specifically for high-technology businesses. Located off
Kimball Avenue in South Burlington and near Interstate 89, the site
is more recently recognized from the Interstate by the “Whale’s
Tails”.
Trudell Consulting Engineers (TCE) began its work at Technology
Park nearly twenty years ago, in 1976, when Greater Burlington Industrial
Corporation (GBIC) turned to TCE to complete a perimeter survey.
Shortly afterwards, GBIC called on the firm to survey 23 acres for
perspective new businesses. GBIC came to rely on the work ethic
and work quality TCE is known for and turned to the company for
a variety of projects afterwards – including the Catamount
Industrial Park in Milton, Vermont.
Digital Equipment Corporation purchased land at the Technology
Park site in 1977, but TCE’s involvement continued with the
site. Thirteen years later, Cynosure, Inc. and GBIC relied on TCE
for the subdivision of the 178-acre lot into seven commercial lots.
TCE’s responsibilities in this 1993 effort included design
of a 20,000 gallon per day wastewater pump station, recreation path
design along frontage on Kimball Avenue, wetland and environmental
services, roadway design, and flood elevation study.
In 2000, the current owners, Technology Park Associates, relied
on TCE to design and obtain permits for two new office buildings
on Lot 2 and Lot 7, this work involved a major traffic study and
related indirect air pollution permits, ACT 250, and stormwater
and wastewater design.
