Fontaine Family Sand & Gravel - Williston

Trudell Consulting Engineers (TCE) has worked with Fontaine Family Sand & Gravel operation since 1991. TCE aided the company in acquiring 25-year permits for sand extraction. The wooded site is located on the north side of the Fontaine property and sale of earth resources was used to supplement the active dairy farm. At the time, forty-two of the 160 acres were being utilized for sand extraction.

More recently, the family business has once again turned to TCE for design and permitting of an expansion on adjacent property. The Fontaine’s are proposing further sand extraction involving 35.7 acres on a neighboring, heavily-wooded, 152.5 acre lot, involved TCE in the permitting process. A reclamation plan was also designed that includes the preservation of three feet of overburden soil to be stripped and stockpiled. Once sand extraction has ceased, native soils will be spread evenly over the sand pit and along the sloped banks.
