The Equinox - Manchester Village

The Equinox is a historic inn located in Manchester Village, Vermont. Trudell Consulting Engineers (TCE) completed surveying, grading, stormwater design, planting, and permitting for expansions at the inn with the design-build firm Breadloaf.

Spa and banquet facility improvements were a priority on the project, which was part of the on-going enhancement to the 200-plus year old property. A 7,200 square foot pool was added to the Equinox, as well as redesigned parking facilities, utilities, and site circulation improvements. Site design included internal circulation roads, parking lots, walkways, and patios.

Local, Act 250, and stormwater permitting were taken on by TCE. Significant changes were made to the stormwater management system at the Equinox. The stormwater extended detention basin was enlarged, and the vegetation at the base of the basin was changed to a wetlands mix to provide greater nutrient uptake and mechanical filtration. A sediment forebay with a wet pool was added to aid in pollutant removal and assist maintenance of the facility. To further enhance pollutant removal, the use of wide vegetated swales was incorporated into the design. TCE also constructed an extended detention stormwater wetland to the south side of the Spa to comply with State requirements.
